Supervisor: Participants: Subjects: |
This internship project was carried out on behalf of the Know Center, Graz, Austria. The Know Center was founded in 2001 as Austria’s Competence Center for Knowledge Management. It serves both as a research lab with close ties to the Technical University of Graz, and as a company providing technical solutions for its clients in the areas of knowledge management, transfer and discovery. In its aspirations to closely ally science and industry, the Know Center is continuously looking for innovative ways of making efficient the transition of scientific concepts to fully usable industry solutions.
Under the supervision of division leader Michal Granitzer, the scope for this internship project entailed the realisation of a web-based platform upon which the latest developments at the Know Center could be showcased and subjected to user feedback. The motivation for such a platform was in part inspired by the success of Google Labs, popularly referred to as ‘Google’s technology playground’. Using the components and principles of Google Labs as a starting point, the project explored a platform tailored specifically for the Know Center with a more integrated design and multiple feedback channels to help enhance the collaboration between developers and users.
