What will operating rooms of the future look like? What equipment will be used, and how? How will doctors and nurses interact with each other during future surgeries? How to optimize spatial arrangements and processes? How to communicate planned setups within engineering teams, to sponsors, and the general public?
3D animations can provide effective answers to such questions. In this project, students of ISNM created an animated 3D model of an operating room planned at Luebeck’s university hospital. In the planned OP room, Augmented Reality devices are combined with ultrasound and CT imaging technology. The setup enables the operating doctor to peek inside the patient’s body while a minimal invasive surgery is being performed. The animation was produced in 3D Studio Max and shows the interaction of altogether four doctors and nurses while performing a surgery in this OP room of the future.
This project was sponsored by Draeger Medical in Luebeck as part of the BMBF FUSION project.
