German Experimental Filmmaker who began his international career in 1967 as one of the founding members of the “Hamburger Filmmacher Cooperative” (the Hamburg Filmmaker Cooperative.) From there he went on to hold various Professorships on German Universities, as well as founding various initiatives, such as the International Center for New Cinema in Riga.
Prof. Nekes has made well over 100 films in the past 40 years, and participated in countless international Film Festivals and exhibitions. Over the past 25 years, Prof. Nekes has accumulated one of the most valuable private collections regarding the early history of audiovisual media and media art over the past 500 years. |
