Education Degree in Psychology in 2001. Cognitive design studies at the University of Mainz.
Bio Carsten Magerkurth is a senior researcher at SAP Research CEC St. Gallen, Switzerland. His current research activities include HCI techniques for smart items, anti-counterfeiting methods, and pervasive computing support for manufacturing.
Before joinging SAP he was head of the research division "AMBIENTE - Smart Environments of the Future" at the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Information and Publication Systems (IPSI) in Darmstadt, Germany. He also teaches at the Technical University of Darmstadt at the institute of Computer Science.
He has authored or co-authored more than 30 scientific papers in the fields of Pervasive Gaming, Human Computer Interaction, and Ambient Intelligence in the relevant journals and conferences. He has won two Best Paper Awards (1st place) for papers on Pervasive Gaming. He is also a frequent reviewer for international conferences in the field of Pervasive Gaming.
He has co-founded the PerGames series of international symposia on Pervasive Gaming that has run annually since 2004.
Courses Workshop "Applying real-world context to interactive applications for multiple users" in July 2004. Guest Lecturer in Game Design in summer 2006.
